My curiosity in cultures and races drove me to investigate numerous religions and try to figure out what makes them unique, where they came from, and what they have in common. Their mutual synthesis. So I decided to create layered pieces that combine diverse traits while still complementing one another. The combination of various cultural, theological, and ideological elements that will build a new culture, religion, or society is known as syncretism.

Religious syncretism is the existence of a ritual, philosophy, organization, symbols, or creative objects from one religion that have been assimilated into another.Humans pay reverence to their god or divinity by using components from their environment and culture. As a result, there is no such thing as a pure religion, or one that isn't a mash-up of pre-existing cults.I worked with the syncretism of Catholicism and African religions in this series. It is a synthesis of the saints corresponding to the orixás of Umbanda and Candomblé printed on three layers of overlapping and embroidered cloth.
